WOMEN’S AND CHILDREN’S ALLIANCE NOMINATED FOR NONPROFIT EXCELLENCE AT BOISE METRO CHAMBER
Boise, ID – The Women’s and Children’s Alliance (WCA) was honored at the Boise Metro Chamber 2019 Small Business of the Year and Chamber Excellence Awards Luncheon on May 22 along with 23 other organizations from the area.
The Idaho Youth Ranch won the distinction of “Nonprofit Excellence”. The WCA is proud to have been selected as a finalist for this award alongside One Stone and the Idaho Youth Ranch, two wonderful nonprofits that further young people’s development through a variety of programming.
“We are grateful to have the support of so many in the Boise community. Events like this broaden awareness in our community around the issues of domestic violence and sexual assault. We want any individual that has experienced domestic abuse or sexual assault in the Treasure Valley to know that the WCA offers safety, healing and freedom through a variety of services at no cost,” said Chris Davis, WCA Communications Manager.
Winners of other categories include: Zee Christopher, Bronco Motors, Idaho Central Credit Union, Albertsons, Optum, Boise Centre and Heidi Hart of Terry Reilly Health Services. The Treasure Valley is grateful for all your dedication and service to the greater community.
We’ve had the pleasure to partner with many of these organizations in some way, whether through fundraisers, donation drives or referring clients to services at their organizations. Without your help and support the WCA would not be able to be one of the most vital, unduplicated, comprehensive domestic violence programs in our region. The WCA is proud to be a community leader in providing these critical and much needed services.
In the last fiscal year, the WCA:
- Provided shelter to 76 women and 103 children (almost half of the children were five-years- old or younger).
- Conducted 2,823 counseling sessions for adults and children.
- Welcomed 4,786 volunteers who gave 14,653 hours of their time.
- Assisted with 1,285 protection orders, 84% of the total number of protection orders filed in Ada County.
It is through the generosity of our community, relationships with our partners and support from our corporate pillars that we are able to provide much needed services to victims.
