PACIFICSOURCE GRANT SUPPORTS VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC ABUSE
The PacificSource Foundation for Health Improvement Awards the Women’s and Children’s Alliance a $20,000 Healthcare Access Grant for Counseling Services

Boise, ID – The Women’s and Children’s Alliance (WCA) has been awarded a grant of $20,000 from the PacificSource Foundation for Health Improvement to provide individual counseling to those impacted by domestic violence. The WCA has six masters’ level clinicians who provide a non-judgmental setting and tools to help victims work through the different emotions and challenges they are experiencing as they move toward breaking free from the trauma of domestic abuse and sexual assault. Counseling is focused upon building healthy relationships and reducing the individual’s trauma as they work toward self-empowerment.
Breaking the isolation of domestic violence and sexual assault by seeking counseling can help victims move forward. Counseling sessions, provided free-of-charge through the WCA’s residential and community client programs, provide a safe and confidential environment for victims to express their feelings, thoughts, and fears.
“Victims suffering from psychological effects of domestic violence may be depressed, anxious or experiencing Post Traumatic Stress Disorder,” said Bev La Chance, Deputy Director for the WCA. “We aim to provide our clients with resources that help them find safety, healing and freedom through every step of the way.”
“Providing supportive counseling is a sound health-based strategy and is in alignment with PacificSource Foundation’s priority of access to healthcare services for children and youth, as well as adults with barriers to care,” said La Chance. “We appreciate the support of the PacificSource Foundation for Health Improvement and are grateful to partner with them for this opportunity to ensure continued access to quality mental healthcare for victims of domestic and sexual abuse.
