Scentsy Rock-a-Thon Raises $260,568 to Help Protect Women and Children
One Day Fundraiser Breaks Record

It’s not every day you see men and women decked out in purple boas and butterfly masks, rocking their hearts out on rocking chairs lining the busiest street in Idaho. But on Friday, September 12th, for twelve hours straight, more than 1,300 volunteers kept 70 rocking chairs filled and in constant motion—all to raise funds for the Women’s & Children’s Alliance.
Scentsy’s owners, Heidi and Orville Thompson donated $250 an hour per chair for the full 12 hours, ($210,000). A record $50,568.14 was donated by the community, local businesses and the food trucks that were on site for the Rock-a-Thon.
“To end the day with the news that over $260,000 was raised to support our children’s programs which in turn makes it possible to expand our safe shelter and thus house more women and children fills us with gratitude. I was almost speechless when Heidi and Orville announced the total, knowing what it will mean to those children – and families – that now will have the opportunity to break the cycle of abuse. The Scentsy team is amazing! To be chosen to participate with them in this year’s Rock-A-Thon was humbling,” said Bea Black, Executive Director of the Women’s and Children’s Alliance.
Scentsy also held an employee drive and collected more than 2,635 jars of baby food, 441 baby snacks and 183 cans of formula to benefit the WCA’s clients. To top off the event, more than 5,000 folks gathered on the grass at Scentsy Commons for the check presentation, live music, games for the kids, and one of the biggest and best fireworks shows in the state of Idaho. This was Scentsy’s 5th annual Rock-a-Thon.
