WHITTENBERGER FOUNDATION SUPPORTS VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC ABUSE
Funds Suppport Counseling Program for Clients
Boise, Idaho – The Women’s and Children’s Alliance (WCA) has been awarded a grant of $3,000 from the Whittenberger Foundation. The funds will be used to provide individual counseling services to adults and children whose lives have been impacted by domestic abuse.
Counseling is where healing beings for most clients. Whether it’s a weekly support group or individual counseling session, the WCA offers survivors access to master’s-level clinicians trained in offering a variety of approaches that best help clients on the road to healing.
Highly trained clinicians provide services that help individuals recover from the trauma of witnessing abuse as a child or experiencing abuse themselves, as well as that of abuse in adulthood. Survivors of sexual assault and domestic abuse are given the tools to rebuild strong relationships.
“Counseling is a proven strategy in the holistic approach of providing service to victims of domestic violence and breaking the isolation of domestic violence by seeking counseling can help victims to move forward. We are so grateful for the support from the Whittenberger Foundation. This funding will help us provide critical services to our clients.” said Bev La Chance, WCA Deputy Director.
In addition to individual counseling, the WCA offers safe shelter, two 24-hotlines, support groups, court advocacy, financial empowerment and a variety of other integrated services and programs to women, men and children victimized by abuse.
