Summer is a time for fun and play, it can also be a stressful time for some families. Parents that have demanding work schedules might have trouble finding affordable child care options in the summer or have to stretch that grocery budget for their growing kiddos. We also know that housing options in Boise are a concern for many families.

Picnic in the Park
Lunch is served Monday – Friday at various times depending on the park location from June 3 through August 9. Children 0-18 can receive a free lunch. Adults can purchase a meal for a small price. See what park is closest to you!
Boise School District
Boise School District offers free meals through summer to students June 4 through July 26.
NAMI Treasure Valley
The National Alliance on Mental Illness offers free classes and support groups for families that have a parent or child with mental illness. These support groups meet at various locations.
Idaho Department of Welfare
The Idaho Department of Welfare offers a variety of programs for families. Some of these resources include:
Child Care Assistance, Children’s Special Health Program, WIC, and the Infant Toddler Program.
Food Pantries
Boise is fortunate to have many different food banks all over the city. Check out this list to see what one is closest to you! Be sure to call ahead to verify hours.
Housing Help
Jesse Tree
Jesse Tree of Idaho provides rental assistance to families that might otherwise face eviction. Housing is hard to find in Boise and this organization makes it easier for families to stay in their homes.
CATCH
CATCH ‘s Our Path Home serves as a triage for families experiencing homelessness. By empowering families and connecting them to local resources they guide clients through the process and support them in finding stable housing options.
