For this month’s staff spotlight, we would like to introduce Laura Honn, our new Philanthropy Manager!
Laura is originally from Chester, England, but has been living for the past 5 years with her husband, Derek, and dog, Cortana, in Chicago. Laura has a background in direct service work in Child Protection, Vulnerable Women and Criminal Justice. More recently, she has contributed to development initiatives at various Chicago based nonprofits, focusing on Homelessness and Sexual Exploitation.
As Philanthropy Manager, Laura’s focus will be on building individual relationships with our donors and supporters to help the community achieve their philanthropy goals. Laura will also be working closely with the Ambassador Program, Hope Society and other philanthropy-based projects and events.
“I am excited to join such a wonderful team of passionate and hardworking staff at The WCA as we work to bring safety, healing and freedom to victims of Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence. As we move into this new decade, I am very much looking forward to giving our supporters new opportunities to become more engaged with our wonderful services.”
