STINKER STORES PIECE OF HOPE CAMPAIGN $105,000 CHECK PRESENTATION
Helping children in our community access services they need to heal from domestic violence and sexual abuse
Boise, ID –On August 20, 2020, Stinker Stores announced the official results of the 2020 “Piece of Hope” fundraising and awareness campaign benefitting the WCA and six other domestic violence service providers. A grand total of $105,000 was raised by community members at Stinker locations throughout Idaho and Wyoming. The results were celebrated with a ‘big check’ presentation at one of the locations in Boise, Idaho.
This is the third-annual “Piece of Hope” campaign, which has traditionally taken place during the month of April, coinciding with both National Child Abuse Prevention Month and Sexual Assault Awareness Month. However, due to the statewide stay-at-home order in Idaho, the campaign was postponed until this summer. The employees, staff and leadership of Stinker Stores recognized the need to share critical information with their customers and to provide support for these programs financially – perhaps now more than ever. With this in mind, they launched a shorter campaign and ran the “Piece of Hope” for the last three weeks of July to August 1, 2020.
The generosity of the Stinker customers exceeded expectations and surpassed the campaign fundraising goals. The $105,000 will be used to fund services and programs throughout both states that specifically focus on the children who are being exposed to violence in their homes or are being subjected to abuse themselves.
Seven domestic violence service providers will benefit:
- $15,800: Advocates Against Family Violence – Caldwell, ID
- $8,000: Carbon County COVE – Rawlins, WY
- $13,100: Family Services Alliance – Pocatello, Lava Hot Springs, Downey, Soda Springs and American Falls, ID
- $6,000: Rose Advocates – Weiser, Payette, Emmett, McCall, Council, Cascade, ID
- $22,000: The Advocates – Hailey, ID
- $35,000: Women’s and Children’s Alliance – Boise, ID
- $5,100: YWCA – Lewiston, Idaho, ID
