An update from Laura, WCA Philanthropy Manager
Greetings WCA Volunteers,
It is hard to believe that it is March already and Spring is on the horizon! I wanted to share a few updates with you all.
Firstly, as you all have seen in last month’s newsletter our volunteer and events coordinator Jenn Spencer left the WCA to pursue a new opportunity. Jenn will be missed! We are in the final stages of hiring a new team member and we look forward to introducing this new person to you shortly! In the meantime, if you have any questions or comments you are welcome to reach out to me via [email protected].
At the moment onsite volunteer opportunities are still limited due to restrictions around Covid-19. However, we are hoping that as we move closer to summer we will be able to have more hands-on opportunities! We will share these through our monthly newsletter and of course on our volunteer Facebook page which you can join here.
Even though in-person volunteering is limited, there are still a number of ways you can help us achieve our mission, these include:
- Take a look and share our new website with your friends and family! Don’t forget to check out our new prevention hub, which has some amazing resources for young people as well.
- Repost, retweet and share our WCA content online! It’s a great way to let our community know we are here for them.
- Print out our posters and display them anywhere you think survivors might see them here. They can be hung any way that you have permission.
- Purchasing Gas Gift cards for our shelter and community-based clients- you can email these to [email protected] or drop them off at our downtown location.
April is also a special month for our volunteers as it’s volunteer appreciation week from April 18- 24! More information to come in our April newsletter, but we are currently looking for volunteers who might be interested in sharing their volunteer journey at The WCA with us for a special tribute to our volunteers! If you would be interested in sharing your story, please email me at [email protected].
Thank you again for all you do to support The WCA!
Laura
