Violence prevention is based in the belief that violence against all people can be prevented by understanding and taking action to challenge the belief that the use of violence is acceptable. Social norms and societal beliefs about sexuality and gender have created a system of bias against LGBTQIA+ communities. Biases and discrimination often lead to violence being committed against these communities, and that violent behavior is generally tolerated and even deemed as acceptable.
NO ONE, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation, should experience abuse. Supporting LGBTQIA+ communities and individuals is violence prevention.
