Meeting the Community Where They Are
WCA staff have been working with the City of Meridian, Meridian Police Department and the Meridian Library District to help people in one of Idaho’s fastest-growing communities. Initially, our intent was to figure out the best way to provide more services to those in need and connect those who need services with the WCA. And our first priority quickly became clear, we needed to raise awareness in the Meridian community about the free, confidential community-based resources available through the WCA.
The WCA Outreach Team will be on-site at Cherry Lane Meridian Library District with information and resource every Tuesday from 2 – 5 p.m. in August. We are camping out in the lobby to let community members know who we are and what we do and that our services are available to all those who are impacted by the trauma of domestic abuse and sexual assault. Now, many of our services can be accessed virtually or telephonically – making it even more accessible to those in more rural settings or those who may not have a vehicle – or even those who may not be ready to make the move to leave the relationship yet and cannot safely travel to a physical location to receive series.
Come on down to the library, check out a book and find out about the free and confidential service offered through the WCA.
