Celebrate by Sharing

From September 15 – October 15, Idaho joins the rest of the country in celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month. Here at the WCA, we also recognize the important contributions of our Latinx community and are glad for the many ways in which they enrich our lives and culture.

Knowing that Spanish is the second most commonly used language in our state, we prioritize translating as many of our resources as possible into Spanish and hiring bilingual program staff whenever possible. We work hard to ensure we get the word out that we have these resources available along with trained program staff to communicate with individuals who need our services in their native tongue.

This is especially important as we begin Domestic Violence Awareness Month tomorrow—October 1—starting the day with our Domestic Violence Awareness Press Conference. This special Press Conference will be held at the Idaho Peace Officers’ Memorial and live-streamed on Facebook and YouTube. We invite you to join us virtually for this impactful kickoff and to hear from some of our community leaders on how domestic violence has impacted their lives.

You can share information about our services during this month of intensified outreach through our Clothesline Project and by picking up one of our outreach kits next week, which contains information intended to be shared far and wide. Your help during these trying times is what has allowed us to reach even more individuals than ever—and for that, we are so grateful.

  • Additionally, we have DVAM outreach kits with informational posters, postcards, shoe cards, and more. Stop by the WCA next week on Monday, October 4 from 2:30-4:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 5 from 5-7 p.m.; Wednesday, October 6 from 5-7 p.m.; or Thursday, October 7 from 11-2 p.m. to pick up your Clothesline supplies or DVAM outreach kit. Please reach out to [email protected] if you have questions or special requests.

  • Participate in the Clothesline Project by hosting a display showcasing t-shirts made by survivors of domestic violence/sexual assault. If you’re interested in participating, please fill out this form and we will give you all the materials you’ll need. Join us in raising awareness about domestic violence and sexual assault in our community.
