Happy Holidays Ambassadors!
This month is a time of joyous holiday cheer as folks from all over the valley bring in gifts and items from the Giving Tree and holiday sponsorship programs for community and residential clients at the WCA. Our Volunteer and Events Coordinator Lupe has done a phenomenal job with these programs. She organized holiday gift sponsorships for 105 families and got over 2,500 Giving Tree tags out into the community. Thank you to each business, family and individual in our community that has taken time to bring a sprinkle of holiday joy to our clients.
This month, Ambassadors showed appreciation for our Client Advocates by putting together holiday packs. For folks who might not know who a Client Advocate is, they are the WCA staff that dedicate their time to assisting shelter clients and making them feel at home. Client advocates connect clients to all our services— they help with safety planning, crisis intervention and shelter access, among many other responsibilities. They are there for shelter residents every step of their healing journey. I have had the privilege of spending some time with these remarkable humans and they truly provide incredible care for our residential clients.
I could not be more grateful for our Ambassador team for prioritizing and also bringing some cheer to our staff who dedicate their time to our shelter clients around the clock.
We also were able to celebrate Ambassadors and volunteers alike with our Holiday party on December 9. It was so delightful to have time to chat, bond, make ornaments and spend some quality time together. We hope to have another get-together in the spring and do an “In Her Shoes” training too.
Hope each of you is well and have a wonderful holiday! Sending hugs and holiday joy!
Best,
Bre
