2021 marks the 12th annual SueB 5K 10K and continues to honor the memory of Susan “SueB” Newby. As a virtual event so we can support survivors and victims of domestic violence both locally and globally. The event will kick off on October 3, 2021, at noon. You can participate in the 5k or 10k anytime from October 3 – October 9.
100% of participant race fees benefit the SueB fund in the WCA Endowment—ensuring the WCA can continue to provide free services in our community for many years to come. Sign up for the SueB 5K 10K.
In the heartfelt words of Sue’s sister Marj Sente: “Don’t wait until your sister, daughter or mother is a victim of domestic abuse or sexual assault, step forward now and make an investment in the WCA to raise awareness about domestic violence.”
This year the WCA and the Idaho Access Project teamed up to help evaluate the 5k urban route for accessibility and to create audio descriptions of the route and several key points of interest along the way. The goal is to include people with diverse abilities who want to support the WCA and be part of the community event.
We have provided directions for the SueB Memorial 5k urban route through a visual map, text description (Word and PDF) and audio. We have created five audio files describing key points of interest along the route. These include the WCA sculpture “Taking Flight”, the Faces of Hope Mural in the Basque Mural, the SueB memorial tree in Ann Morrison Park and the brand new Cherie Buckner Webb Park.
