ADA COUNTY PARAMEDICS EMPLOYEES AND WOMEN’S & CHILDREN’S ALLIANCE HOST ANNUAL SUEB 5KRUN/WALK         

Raising Awareness about Domestic Violence and Promoting Healthy Relationships in our Community

Boise, ID – The Employee’s Association of the Ada County Paramedics and the Women’s & Children’s AlliaSueB 2016 Logonce are thrilled to host the 7th Annual SueB Memorial 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, October 2, 2016 in Julia Davis Park.

This annual event is in memory of Susan Elaine Brubaker Newby (SueB) who died during a mysterious horseback riding incident in 2008. After her death, her friends and family turned to the WCA as a way to honor her life and increase awareness about domestic violence and promote healthy relationships in our community.

Families are encouraged to bring their kids for the half mile Kid’s Fun Run and their four-legged friends to run alongside them in the 5K Run/Walk. There will be family-friendly activities, music and fun following the run. Dutch Bros, Boise Fry Company, and Ben & Jerry’s will be on -site and with post-run indulgences available for purchase.

  • Registration: Kids $20, 5K $30, Team $20/person
  • SueB 5K Run/Walk 1:00 p.m.
  • The 5K will follow Boise’s beautiful Greenbelt out and back
  • Kids’ Half Mile Fun Run around the Rose Garden 12:30 p.m.

Proceeds from the race will benefit the WCA’s Endowment Fund, which provides safety, healing and freedom for survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault.

“Don’t wait until your sister, daughter or mother is a victim of domestic abuse or sexual assault, step forward now and make an investment in the WCA to raise awareness about domestic violence,” said Marjory Sente, Sue’s sister

About SueB

Susan Elaine Brubaker Newby who died in 2008 during a mysterious incident while horseback riding with her husband. After her death, family and friends began to realize that SueB – the nickname everyone used – very likely was involved in an abusive marriage.

SueB’s sister Marjory Sente and friends Leslie Hampe and Teresa Andrew turned to the WCA as a way to honor Sue’s life and raise awareness about the issue of domestic violence.
