As a WCA employee in 2011, Katherine Johnson began the Ambassador program. Now a Senior Account Manager at Stoltz, she volunteers her time each month to facilitate Ambassador 101.

A WCA Ambassador is someone who has at least ten guests attend our “If These Walls Could Talk” tour. They can attend the regularly-scheduled tours that take place twice per month, host a private tour, or host a “Tour in a Box” at their home or work. The purpose of the program is to increase the number of community members that are aware of the issues of domestic abuse and sexual assault and what the WCA can provide to individuals seeking assistance. Also, chances are that one of those ten tour guests will want to become an Ambassador, volunteer, donor, or even a client. Click here to view a short video about the program. Its evolution and growth wouldn’t be possible without Katherine’s dedication.

“Serving as the 101 facilitator fills so many cups for me – I get a monthly reminder of why I care so deeply about the mission of the WCA, I get to catch-up with old friends, and I’m given the opportunity to meet the “newbies” in the actual training session. That last one is so dear to me – these people are all different. They come from different backgrounds and different walks-of-life, but they all have one thing in common – a passion for wanting to help spread the word about what the WCA does. And that’s all we hope for! My part is easy – I just give them the basic tools to go out and be successful Ambassadors – they do all the work. And they do it with grace, compassion, and empathy. They really are a special group of people. I feel lucky to be able to help in some small way.”
