Monthly Newsletter for WCA Corporate Supporters
Update from Lisa Uhlmann, Corporate Program Manager
Greetings from the offices of the WCA’s Corporate Pillars! We are getting back to a more normal pre-Covid schedule, including plans to have a tremendous Corporate Pillars reception this fall. As we are working to come back into the office safely, we are working on ways to engage with you both in-person and virtually–to provide you opportunities to learn more about the work we do and educate your employees. So please keep an eye out and reach out to me if you have any questions or want to learn more. I am so grateful to be here, working with generous and passionate people like you, working to make our community safe for all individuals.
I wanted to give a quick update about TWIN. Thank you to all who participated — I hope that we will get to see one another in person next year. However, the 2021 TWIN Awards was a beautifully designed virtual event. Many thanks to those who provided such positive feedback about the event. We were able to honor 47 accomplished women on April 1. We are grateful to be able to thank all of the businesses and organizations that encourage high achievement by women and provide equal advancement opportunities for women of diverse backgrounds. We are so appreciative of the support from the 2021 TWIN Sponsor, Citi. Next year’s TWIN Awards event is planned to be in person at the Boise Centre on March 31, 2022. Click here to watch the virtual event.
Gratefully always,
Lisa

I am also working on several important projects to help secure pet supplies and services for our WCA secure shelter clients (residents). Did you know? National statistics show that close to 75% of dogs in households affected by domestic abuse are also victims of abuse. We are in need of gift cards for our clients to purchase dog and cat food, leashes, collars, dog beds and cat trees, treats and toys. Currently, I am gathering gift cards to help our clients and staff purchase the items needed by the residents. Please contact me if you’d like to get involved. It is very empowering for our clients to have the ability to purchase the items themselves. They also know the exact needs of their pets. The truth is that we have very little space to store items on our shelter campus. We are also working with local veterinarians to provide free vaccinations for the shelter pets. |
