GRANT SUPPORTS CHILDREN’S COUNSELING
Gladys E. Langroise Advised Fund in the Idaho Community Foundation
Awards Funds to Women’s and Children’s Alliance
Boise, ID – The Women’s and Children’s Alliance (WCA) has been awarded a grant of $5,339 from the Gladys E. Langroise Advised Fund in the Idaho Community Foundation. The funds will be used to provide counseling services to children who have been impacted by domestic violence.
Research indicates that millions of children in the U.S. are at risk of exposure to domestic violence each year. When there is intimate partner violence present in the home, the risk of abuse to the child increases significantly.
“Exposure to and abuse itself can have lasting physical, emotional and developmental impacts on a child – even into adulthood,” says Bev La Chance, WCA Deputy Director. “The WCA strives to provide tools for those impacted by the trauma of abuse so they may find freedom and break the cycle of generational violence.”
In addition to counseling services for children, the WCA offers safe shelter, case management, court advocacy, life skills classes, financial education, and a variety of other integrated services and programs to women, men and children victimized by abuse.
