Every year at the WCA we are blessed with an outpouring of community support during the holidays through our three holiday programs: Holiday Sponsorship Program, Giving Tree and City Santa. In 2020, we saw a stark increase in the need for our services since the global pandemic began. However, our generous community stepped up, even more, to help when home is not safe for all.

During our Holiday Sponsorship Program, 84 families received needed and wanted items from their wish lists including a plethora of gift cards to grocery stores, gas stations, retail stores and restaurants to ensure clients and their families have access to important resources and fun activities in 2021.

Our Giving Tree program featured nearly 2,000 tags with needed items for our shelter, child care and facilities that were hung around the fence of the Boise Grove Plaza Downtown Holiday Tree. Thanks to the amazing support of our community, all of the items on the tags were dropped off to our facility in December. These items will keep us stocked for the next three to six months and will be featured in our client store at our shelter. As clients go through our programming, they earn rewards they can use in the client store to obtain these brand new donated items including many items that can help furnish their new safe space when they are ready to leave our programming.

Our City Santa program looked a little different this year but provided an even more meaningful experience with Santa through 10 minute one on one Zoom calls with families. Thirty nine families participated in the program including dozens of families who joined us for our Sing-A-Long on December 5. We raised nearly $1,000 in support of our mission while spreading joy to Treasure Valley families.

Our special thanks to the individuals and groups below who supported these holiday programs, including the Downtown Boise Association, Santa Johnny, Idaho Central Credit Union and D.L. Evans Bank who are instrumental in making these programs happen every year. We are so grateful to you all for your kindness and generous spirit!
