image002We are excited to be strengthening our collaboration with Idaho Youth Ranch to provide further skills-based job training to WCA clients!

“Like many of the clients of the WCA, the youth served by Idaho Youth Ranch often have experienced multiple traumatic experiences in their young lives that are driving their behavior, their self-worth and stealing their futures. The therapeutic services provided by Idaho Youth Ranch use proven treatment models to help youth find hope, healing and resilience. The amazing capacity these kids have to heal when they receive timely therapy stands in stark contrast to the dangerous paths that their past traumatic experiences have placed them on. We serve youth and families across Idaho through a variety of treatment models– including equine therapy and our recently launched telemental health therapy.”

-Rich Cline, Idaho Youth Ranch, Vice-President of Social Enterprise

In addition to offering our clients this training, Idaho Youth Ranch will also be collecting the donations from our WCA thrift store to be sold at one of their locations, as The Shop has closed permanently after being temporarily closed due to COVID-19.

To ensure that items are thoroughly evaluated, Idaho Youth Ranch added the “Product Value Specialist” position in July 2019. This position focuses on finding value-added merchandise and ensuring it gets to the right place at the right time for the right value. This gives them the greatest opportunity to honor the value of the items and get the desired revenues to fund our programs.

In addition to thrift stores and distribution centers many people may be familiar with, Idaho Youth Ranch has multiple specialty shops around the Treasure Valley–known as “Ruby’s Specialty Shops” after Idaho Youth Ranch co-founder, Ruby Carey Crowe. These are:

  • Ruby’s Attic (Five Mile & Overland) – antiques, vintage, and collectible items

  • Ruby’s Finer Jewelry (Orchard) – gold, sterling, and vintage costume jewelry

  • Ruby’s Closet (Main St) – vintage clothing and some décor

  • Ruby’s Boutique (Fairview and Five Mile) – higher value clothing, shoes, and accessories; gold, sterling, and vintage costume jewelry

  • Ruby’s Eagle Nest (Eagle) – antiques, vintage, and collectible items

These specialty shops pride themselves on maintaining Ruby’s brand, with high standards of merchandising, presentation, and quality of items offered for purchase. If you weren’t able to make it in to The Shop at WCA to get your summer shopping done, or if you have donations you may have wanted to donate to our thrift store, be sure to check out Idaho Youth Ranch locations!
