Important updates as we move into Fall

SueB 5K 10K

With October fast approaching, there are just a few more weeks to sign up for The SueB 5K 10K.  This event is in its 12th year and continues to honor the memory of Susan “SueB” Newby, a local Boise resident who lost her life to domestic abuse 13 years ago. This year’s event will be completely virtual so we can continue to support survivors and victims of domestic abuse both locally and globally. You can participate in the 5K or 10K anytime between October 3 and October 9.

There is still time to sign up and show that you support victims of domestic abuse. In the heartfelt words of Sue’s sister Marj: “Don’t wait until your sister, daughter or mother is a victim of domestic abuse or sexual assault, step forward now and make an investment in the WCA to raise awareness about domestic violence.”

Sign up for the SueB 5k 10k here

I want to take this opportunity to recognize our amazing sponsors who have continued to support us:

Marj Sente

Leslie Hampe

Northwest Bank

Hannah’s

Kai Fit

Microbe Formulas

Fleet Feet

Hawley Troxell

Allaa

We are grateful for all of the support that these community Sponsors have provided to help make sure that this year’s event is a success.  A huge thank you also to our partners: Ada County Paramedics, Idaho Power and Idaho Access Project.

Healing Begins with Hope

As we continue to try and do what’s best for our community, we will be hosting our annual outreach and fundraising event, Healing Begins with Hope, completely virtual. We would have loved to gather in person, but we are excited about the increased access and opportunity that virtual events provide. The event is a wonderful opportunity to spread our mission and learn what you can do to help those in your own community to find safety, healing and freedom from domestic abuse and sexual assault. Simultaneously, our team is running a 24-hour day of action starting at noon on October 29. Stay tuned over the next few weeks to learn how you can participate in our day of action and Healing Begins with Hope event.

If you’re interested in helping the WCA, I encourage you to donate via our Amazon Wish List. Some of the women who are staying in our shelter are about to give birth or have given birth recently and would greatly benefit from the vital items located on our wish list.
