Working directly with young people is central to the violence prevention work we do at the WCA each day. While educating young people is critical, creating opportunities for youth to explore self-empowerment, identify their values and passions and develop their skills is another way that we promote meaningful, long-lasting change. One opportunity for youth development that we are particularly excited to be a part of is the annual Idaho Youth for Change Summit!
The Idaho Youth for Change (IYFC) Summit is an ongoing initiative to unite students across Idaho for trainings and workshops targeted at youth empowerment, health equity, and social change. The Summit aims to inspire youth to become leaders in their community. The annual IYFC Summit engages and empowers Idaho students to strengthen skills, build relationships, and inspire action towards equitable, healthy, and thriving communities. Adult allies and youth plan and execute the summit in full partnership.
This year’s summit theme is ”Transforming Our Collective Future.” We want to acknowledge the transformation that has been achieved through collective effort, resiliency, and care this past year. The summit will inspire and empower youth to foster ideas that will create a brighter and more equitable future.
This free, virtual opportunity is open to all youth ages 14-20. If you are interested in learning more or to register for the summit, click here!
