How long have you practiced law?
Practiced law for 2 years.
What drove you to pursue law?
I wanted to provide support to individuals who found themselves in difficult legal situations and did not have the knowledge or resources to represent themselves.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself, or something you enjoy!
I enjoy practicing yoga and hiking…. and I love Idaho!!!
How long have you been involved with the Women’s and Children’s Alliance and how did you first get involved?
I first became involved with the WCA shortly after I was barred as an attorney (approximately 2 years).
What drives your passion for continuing the great work that you do with the Women’s and Children’s Alliance?
Each time I meet with a client at the WCA I am grateful for the opportunity to help the client maneuver through the legal system during what is likely the most difficult time in the client’s life. The legal system is daunting to these individuals and I truly enjoy this work and feel honored that the clients are kind and appreciative of the service we provide.
What is something you wish more people knew about the issues you face when helping domestic abuse and sexual assault survivors?
I wish more people understood domestic violence is not just a women’s problem … it is everyone’s problem. Violence against women is perpetuated by certain gender stereotypes, the media, and cultural norms…which downplay violence (whether physical, emotional, or verbal) against other individuals. This perception is fed into by all genders and therefore all genders should take an active role in preventing and addressing violence.
