The Shop, our boutique thrift store, held Thrifty Thursday: Health Fair from 5-7 pm on Thursday, February 1st. The goal of the event was to not only hold a fun event for staff and customers, but also to discuss different forms of health such as financial, self-care, and so on.
The health fair brought together different local resources for networking, and an opportunity for community members to learn about what they offer. Boise Urban Garden Schools (BUGS), Terry Reilly Health Services, Helping Hands Massage, Boise State Admissions all sent representatives to our health fair. Attendees were able to get information about these services along with snacks, free seeds, and a free 10-minute massage. Rachael, one of our counselors, held a self-care booth where participants could learn about self-care and make a self-care collage card. Deborah, our financial literacy educator, had a booth on financial literacy including important information about taxes.
It wasn’t just Boise community members who took advantage of the health fair. A lot of WCA staff walked through, and got a nice relaxing break before their evenings started. Those who attended had a great time, and also felt like they received some important information.
Thank you to everyone who attended, and help put this together!
