Last week, the WCA participated in NO MORE week, part of a national campaign by NOMORE.org dedicated to ending domestic violence and sexual assault by increasing awareness, inspiring action and fueling culture change.
On March 8, the WCA partnered with the Alpha Chi Omega sorority at Boise State University. Despite some cloudy skies and rain showers, there was a great turnout of passionate BSU students who shared the reasons they say no more to domestic abuse, among them “Everyone should feel loved,” “Because love is equal,” and “Love should NEVER hurt!” One man even stopped by with a puppy to share the message “Paws aren’t for hurting.”
On March 9, the WCA brought NO MORE to Dawson Taylor’s Downtown Coffee House. Patrons stopped by to learn about NO MORE and make some signs as they waited for their coffee drinks. Some of their reasons? “We deserve to be safe,” “healthy love is the best love,” and “the conversation & change is long overdue.” We are so appreciative to everyone who took the time to participate in sign making, and to Dawson Taylor for being our host.
We are humbled by the number of people who created signs and told us the reasons why they not only say no to domestic abuse, but also why they are taking action against it. We truly are louder together, and it will take all of our voices to foster a community where individuals thrive in safe, healthy relationships.
