Bev La ChanceFor the past five years, the WCA has enjoyed a strong collaboration with Create Common Good  (CCG), a community non-profit organization that “uses food to change lives and build healthy communities.”  Their food server job-training program has been instrumental in providing many of the WCA clients with an opportunity to hone new skills and to acquire viable employment.  Forty-four individuals have received CCG training with seventy-one percent of those individuals being placed in a job.

Besides the training/employment opportunity, clients report a welcoming and engaging training environment that is ripe with encouragement.  Since the inception of the CCG job-training partnership, the WCA has coupled this opportunity with the potential of a monetary stipend (Susan P. Sherlock Training Scholarship) that may be earned by the completion of the several phases of training.  This allows the client a bit of a cushion to take care of current expenses, as well as an incentive to complete the training, in total.  We’re proud of our collaboration with CCG as it exemplifies a community that works together to ensure the safety, health and well-being of its citizens.CCGtenyearlogo
