Boise, ID – The Women’s and Children’s Alliance (WCA) is pleased to announce the winners of their 2019 Public Service Announcement (PSA) contest. Judges and staff were impressed with the high quality submissions, which provide information and resources about dating abuse and healthy relationships to teens and young adults. This year’s judges are Marco Vazquez of Intracon, Mike Kerby and Joan Cleary of c308 Marketing, and Anna Silver of 6 On Your Side on KIVI-TV.

The contest invited students to create 29-second videos addressing their peers about issues including teen dating abuse and healthy relationships. This year there is the added option of creating a digital poster for students who are interested in graphic design. The winning videos and posters will be integrated into the WCA’s outreach efforts and shared in future presentations to student groups.

The WCA will host a PSA Contest reception at its downtown office, located at 720 W. Washington St, Boise, ID, 83702 on Friday, March 1 from 6 -7:30 p.m. to celebrate all participants in the contest and award the winners of each category. The reception is free and open to the public.

“This contest allows students to show their talents and help spread an important message to their peers,” said WCA Communications Manager, Chris Davis. “We hope that in the process of making and sharing these videos, a difference may be made for at least one young person who may be experiencing an unhealthy or abusive relationship. We are so impressed by the creativity and compassion of each of the participants.”

The Women’s and Children’s Alliance, 720 W. Washington, provides safety, healing and freedom from domestic abuse and sexual assault. The WCA operates two 24-hour information lines, secure shelter and transitional housing and provides professional counseling, legal advocacy, licensed child care, financial literacy and life skills training, and case management services.
