Sustainability seems to be a buzzword that we hear everywhere these days. We hear about “sustainable energy”, “sustainable agriculture”, and “sustainable work practices”… but what does “Sustainable Funding” mean for nonprofits and for the WCA?

For a large organization like the WCA, “sustainable funding” means resilience. Having resources that we know we can count on for years to come, allows us to put more of our time and energy into fulfilling our mission and expanding our services to help even more people in our community. One way for our supporters to do this is to pledge to give a certain amount over several years.

“We can never give up trying to eliminate domestic violence and sexual abuse. But the reality is it still happens every day in our community.  That means the work of the passionate people of the WCA is needed day after day, which is why (my wife) Terry and I choose to provide on-going support as members of the Hope Society.” -Dave Self, Chief Administrative Officer of St. Luke’s Health Partners, Hope Society

The Self family is just one of the many generous members of the WCA’s Hope Society which helps the WCA continue our mission with sustainable funding. Hope Society is a group of donors who have pledged to give $1,000 per year for 5 years. We’re honored to have over 205 Hope Society members right now. We know that we can count on that pool of funding instead of having to start from zero at the beginning of each fiscal year.  Our donors who make multi-year pledges give us two gifts: the gift of resources so that we can continue to do our important work, and the gift of peace of mind as we move ahead. Sustainable funding allows our organization to focus more of our resources on the important programs and services we offer to our clients at no cost.
