I’m Taking a Breather
I am taking a little bit of time to enjoy a few days with my family this week. It’s my birthday and we are enjoying a few days of solitude and the majestic beauty of the Idaho mountains. More importantly, I am taking some time to step out of the hectic pace of daily life, I am taking a break from the news cycle and I am taking a break to breathe.
Looking back at this past year at the WCA, I am amazed at the frantic pace we have been keeping. The services that have been requested and the number of clients we have served. The changes we have been required to make amidst the ever-changing landscape of the world and community around us. I am amazed and humbled.
While I am taking a moment to pause, reflect and recharge — my team is planning, strategizing and preparing for what is yet to come. We will be ready. We have some exciting things coming out next week, so keep your eyes open. We will be introducing a new WCA website, a digital prevention resource HUB and a podcast in the next few weeks. We are redesigning our newsletter and continuing our brand refresh in an effort to be more inclusive and ready for the future.
The number of hotline calls related to domestic abuse coming into the WCA rose 84% in 2020… and still we are making changes to the way we do business to better ourselves. We are looking at how we provide services to better meet the needs of our community, while we are still experiencing higher-than-ever requests for services.
Home is not always safe and our doors are open. We are proud to be the WCA.
