Update from Lisa Uhlmann, Corporate Program Manager
We hope your summer is going well. At the WCA, we are busy working on special corporate and business programming, including critical updates on our shelter campus and women and children clients and how they manage to live their challenging daily lives during the continuing COVID health crisis.
We would love to get back to a more normal pre-COVID schedule. As we are working to come back into the office safely, we are working on ways to engage with you both in-person and virtually – to provide you opportunities to learn more about the daily work we do and educate and engage your employees. Please reach out to me anytime if you have any questions or need additional information. It is my absolute privilege to work at the WCA, always trying to make our goal to produce a safe community for each of us. Tragically home is not safe for everyone. Your compassion and support mean the world to our clients and each of us at the WCA.
Also, we are completing our Back to School Sponsorship program…83 of our young clients, ages five through high school, need school supplies and clothing to begin a successful academic year. We are so appreciative of the corporate supporters for this year’s Back to School sponsorships. Many students being classes next week, and families are picking up backpacks this week.
At complicated times like this, I am often reminded of a memorable quote from renowned anthropologist Margaret Mead:
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
We could not help our clients without each of you. Thanks so much for being there for them.
With utmost gratitude,
Lisa Uhlmann

I am also working on several important projects to help secure pet supplies and services for our WCA secure shelter clients (residents).
Did you know? National statistics show that close to 75% of dogs in households affected by domestic abuse are also victims of abuse.
We are in need of gift cards for our clients to purchase dog and cat food, leashes, collars, dog beds and cat trees, treats and toys. Currently, I am gathering gift cards to help our clients and staff purchase the items needed by the residents. Please contact me if you’d like to get involved.
It is very empowering for our clients to have the ability to purchase the items themselves. They also know the exact needs of their pets. The truth is that we have very little space to store items on our shelter campus. We are also working with local veterinarians to provide free vaccinations for shelter pets.
Would you like to host a narrated slide presentation or watch a video on your own time?
