My name is Kendra and I am a senior at Capital High School. For one of my classes a family donated $300 to one class period and we all had to split the money: we each got $10. I had to find some way to make $10 into more money or do something with the $10 and give back to the community.

My family and I decided to do a benefit car show. We hosted the car show at the Golden Wheel Drive-Inn on Saturday, November 8^th, 2014. We only had one week to get everything together, so it was very short notice.

The sun was shining, and the day turned out to be beautiful! Most likely this was the last day of warm weather, and we had over 100 people show up and 27 cars registered! We received $548 in cash donations from the raffle and from people giving us money. We also collected about $1000 in clothing, food, books, medicine, kitchen supplies, and a lot more things!

The donations filled the whole back and inside of a truck which was just amazing! I was afraid that we were not going to get that much, but I was just amazed at how the community came together and helped!

I chose the Women’s and Children’s Alliance because they are not a very well known organization and donations are few and far between. I told people that the items were being donated to the Women’s and Children’s Alliance, most people asked who is that organization? So, I wanted to get the word out to the community about it!

This organization is awesome and does great things for those who need help. I felt privileged to help and donate to the Women’s and Children’s Alliance because I know it’s going to help many people. This project helped me learn that there are a lot of people out there that need my help, and I can do whatever I put my mind to; and help inspire others and give them support
