24-Hour Domestic Violence Hotline: 208.343.7025 24-hour Rape Crisis Hotline: 208.345.7273 (RAPE)

October is an important month for the WCA – it is Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM). As I hope you have seen through the news and our Facebook, we kicked off the month with a DVAM Press Conference on Friday, October 1. Officers, first responders, survivors, and their agencies all came together to share stories of their experiences with domestic violence. They also expressed their dedication to make our community one of safe spaces and healthy relationships.

“So much of my children’s safety and happiness is a direct result of your good work”
-former WCA client

During this month I hope you join us in one of the many ways to spark hope in our community and raise awareness about domestic abuse. Throughout the month you can take part in outreach efforts by hanging posters in your neighborhoods or workspaces, sharing shoe cards, or wearing a purple ribbon in solidarity with survivors and those lost to domestic abuse. You can receive any of these items with a DVAM Outreach Kit. You can contact outreach@wcaboise.org for more information.

To wrap up the end of DVAM we hope you join us for our Healing Begins with Hope outreach and fundraising event. This event will be completely virtual, free and only 30 minutes long. It is an incredibly impactful presentation of our story and the story of one of our client survivors. Take a moment to register here and share with your friends, family and coworkers to join in!

If you are also interested in getting even more involved, contact Bre at philanthropy@wcaboise.org for information about our Day of Hope!

I cannot thank each of you enough for your generosity from helping fill our WCA shelter pantry to always being incredible advocates of our mission and vision at the WCA. Take time this month to spread awareness about DVAM and join us for Healing Begins with Hope!

In healing,
Bre
