The holiday season is over, yet I cannot help but reflect on a number of “special moments” that were truly representative of our caring and compassionate community. There was the young girl who celebrated her birthday by having her friends bring unwrapped toys to her party which she then donated to the children living in the WCA shelter. A donor wanted to ensure that our shelter residents and their children had warm coats, hats and gloves during this cold winter season, thus donated the funds to purchase these items – the residents were ecstatic. There is the group of women who for over twenty years has provided a joyful Christmas party for our shelter residents – making them feel special and cared for. There is SO MUCH good in our world – in our community – let that reality guide us through 2015.
