24-Hour Domestic Violence Hotline: 208.343.7025 24-hour Rape Crisis Hotline: 208.345.7273 (RAPE)

I’m a sports fan and March Madness has me glued to the games.  I had Kentucky winning it all but, quite truthfully, I was really rooting for Notre Dame – go Irish – to upset them on Saturday evening.  As I watched the games, I have viewed several It’s On Us public service announcements.  Launched by President Obama, the campaign is focused on reducing rape on college campuses.  The It’s On Us campaign is designed to educate college students that they have a role to play in keeping their peers safe, as well as encouraging them to intervene when situations call for it.  RAINN (Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network), the largest anti-sexual violence organization, is an original partner on the campaign.  The It’s On Us public service announcements, featuring film and television celebrities, as well as sports figures, send a message of care and concern, yet is pro-active in its message of intolerance of this crime. It’s On Us is a great awareness outreach effort.  I applaud the NCAA for their involvement and support of this effort to prevent sexual assault.
