The WCA is collaborating with Ada County’s Domestic Violence Court (DVC). Established in 2006, DVC is an integrated domestic violence court, considered to be a fast-track court that is based upon the one-family one-judge concept. Accordingly, both the criminal violence cases and any other related civil matters in which the same partners are involved are handled by the same judge. DVC involves intense supervised probation, post-sentencing judicial monitoring, specialized batterer assessment and treatment, and comprehensive case management. The WCA will provide a contract 20-hours-a-week Case Manager who will offer on-site victim advocacy and comprehensive case management to victims. It is anticipated that this collaborative effort will increase victim safety because of enhanced coordination, cooperation and communication and access to services for victims.
