Guest Contributor Deborah DeSousa, Certified Financial Educator/Coach

Deborah headshotOur financial education program is partnering with Girl Scouts of Silver Sage this year as part of their financial empowerment (K-12) program. Our goal is to provide financial education workshops and volunteer opportunities for Daisies, Brownies, Juniors, Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors. We held our first workshop on October 14th with a group of Daisies who designed and decorated banks for saving, spending, and donating. The girls also worked on identifying coins and bills, as well as free activities to do with friends and family.

At the end of the workshop, each Daisy received her Money Counts Badge. Their moms and dad were a great support, as well as our volunteer, Bev McClean, and our JV Community Support Specialist, Megan Skinner. We hope to include Cadettes, Seniors, and Ambassadors as mentor volunteers during our next workshops for Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors. In the spring, we will facilitate a financial empowerment workshop for Girl Scouts of Silver Sage volunteers.

We look forward to expanding this new partnership. If you know of a troop interested in a financial empowerment workshop, or you are interested in volunteering during the next workshop, please contact Deborah DeSousa at (208) 343-3688 Ext. 269.
