During October the WCA was privileged to participate in KTVB’s “Community Champions” contest.

Different local nonprofit organizations and first responders were nominated by KTVB and Idaho Central Credit Union and then the contest was open to online voting by the public through KTVB’s website. The WCA was proud to have been nominated in “Serving the Homeless and Housing” and “Women” categories. There were so many other amazing organizations and first responders nominated it truly was a great honor to be included with others doing great work in our community.

We are proud to announce that we won in the category of “serving the Homeless and Housing”. Domestic violence is the leading cause of homelessness in women and children. The need to help these women and children reach safety and freedom through housing continues to grow. For this reason we have launched a capital campaign to build a transitional housing unit next to our existing shelter. To learn more about this need please read our press release regarding the campaign and visit the campaign’s website.

Boise is blessed to have such outstanding community champions working every day to make a difference.  Thank you to all who work towards making Boise an even better place to live, KTVB, Idaho Central Credit Union, and to all who voted. You can see all of the other winners here.
