Collaboration is key…

Laura Honn- Philanthropy Manager

April is a busy month here at The WCA! Like many months we are working tirelessly to make sure that we can educate our communities to understand the work we do and how you can help us achieve our mission of safety, healing and freedom from domestic abuse and sexual assault. Collaboration is key and we are fortunate to have so many opportunities for successful collaboration in a variety of ways.

Stinker Store’s Piece of Hope Campaign, which runs from April 12-May 1, throughout Idaho is a  wonderful outreach opportunity. Not only do stores work hard to raise vital funds, but they also act as a vessel to deliver our impactful outreach materials such as our shoe cards that provide vital information for survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault.

This year, Idaho Gives is running from April 29-May 6 and provides so many opportunities for us to showcase not only the work we do but our community partners that make our mission achievable. During the week-long campaign, we will be highlighting partnerships on social media and sharing 10 Ways to Take Action Idaho Gives, from considering a donation to sharing our outreach materials. One such partner we will be highlighting is Rolling Tomato, an entirely volunteer-led nonprofit that redistributes excess food by providing weekly donations to our shelters of fresh fruit, vegetables and other items. Idaho Gives works to celebrate nonprofits and the important contributions they bring to our communities.

Speaking of contributions, I want to give a big shout-out to our dedicated WCA Volunteers. April 18-24 is volunteer appreciation week! While we would love to get together and celebrate our volunteers, we are keeping things COVID cautious and will be having a virtual celebration via extended Facebook Live on Monday, April 19th at noon. You can tune in through our WCA Facebook page as we talk about the impact volunteers have on our services and ability to help those in our community that need us the most. We will also be having some of our volunteers talk live about their volunteering experiences at The WCA. Watch out for daily social media posts during the week highlighting volunteer opportunities! If you would like to find out more about volunteering at The WCA, sign up here for one of our virtual volunteer sessions.
