The Power of Partnerships

Laura Honn- Philanthropy Manager

Last week we wrapped up our Idaho Gives Campaign. Thank you to everyone who followed our campaign, donated, liked, shared our social media and chose to support the work we do! Idaho Gives is a special campaign for us because it gives us the opportunity to showcase some of the great partnerships with other local nonprofits that help make our work possible. Partnerships provide creative solutions to challenges and they expand our reach and importantly align us with other passionate people and organizations. Each partnership we form helps us achieve our mission of safety, healing and freedom from domestic abuse and sexual assault.

I personally enjoy Idaho Gives so much because it gives me an opportunity to learn more about some of the amazing non-profits and connects me with other wonderful non-profit professionals. I am also fortunate to be surrounded by dedicated and hardworking professionals here at The WCA who are all incredibly passionate about our mission and the work we do. On our philanthropy team, we all share, I believe, a strong dedication to the work that we do and its importance to the community that we live in. The partnerships that we have created in our team, and within the wider WCA community have brought me a great sense of fulfillment and enjoyment at work.

May is mental health awareness month, and as I reflect on my own mental health, after what has been a challenging year for many, I feel very fortunate that I get to go to work every day and feel happy and fulfilled. I am lucky to be surrounded by amazing people who have all dedicated their time to helping others. I am lucky that each day I get to meet new people and expand my network by creating meaningful new partnerships. During May, I would encourage you all to reflect on places where you may be able to seek out and build new partnerships, perhaps in work or perhaps in another area of your life. Search out these new partnerships and they can bring fulfillment, happiness and growth- it’s worth the work!
