What is your job title at the WCA?
Thrift Store Clerk
What do you do in your job at the WCA?
I work the floor in the thrift shop and receive donations.
How long have you been with the WCA?
I’ve been at the WCA for almost a year now.
Where did you work prior to joining the WCA team?
Prior to the WCA I worked as a Special Education Aide.
What do you find most rewarding about your work at the WCA?
The most rewarding part of my job at the WCA is that I am able to talk with a lot of people every day that come into the store. I love when people come into shop, they are always telling me what awesome work the WCA does; it makes them feel like they are helping the cause to shop and donate to us.
How have you changed or grown as a person through your work here?
While working at the WCA I have seen the generosity of our community and that has made me much more appreciative of what people will do to support a great organization.
Is there a memorable moment or story that you’d like to share that you have experienced at the WCA?
My favorite story of working in The Shop is when a client came in and noticed that we had a small bike for a little boy in the front. She got really excited when she saw it, but it was out of her price range. She asked me if I could hold it while she ran upstairs to see if her caseworker could help her out. Her case worker did, and she was able to get the bike for her son. As she wheeled it out she told me that things had been going wrong for so long and this was the first time, in a long time, that she felt something had gone right. It was awesome to hear that!
