What do you find most rewarding about your work at the WCA?
Leaving an abusive relationship is not always easy, and the WCA gives a lot of support to those willing to take that first step. It is an immensely gratifying feeling to be a part of that process, whether it’s sharing resources or personally helping someone in a crisis.
How have you changed or grown as a person through your work here?
Being a client advocate at the WCA has taught me how to be a better listener, compose myself calm and collectively, and how to deal with a crisis in a nurturing but neutral manner.
Is there a memorable moment or story that you’d like to share that you have experienced at the WCA?
While I can honestly say I have not made too memories with the WCA just yet, my most fond memory was during an all staff meeting. I had worked a few very difficult shifts that were rather intimidating, and when I saw how many people were there to serve the same cause, the energy in the room felt incredibly strong. It reminded me why I was there, and it was comforting to know that no matter what part of the WCA we served, we are all in it together.
