Stephanie Staff Spotlight

We have some amazing staff here at the WCA and we would like to take a moment and feature just one of them!
What is your full name?

Stephanie Metsker

What is your job title at the WCA?

Volunteer Coordinator

What do you do in your job at the WCA?

I am the go-to person for everything relating to volunteers. I meet with potential volunteers and fill open volunteer positions within the organization. I’m also the go to person for a couple of our major sponsorship programs; Back to School and The Giving Tree.

How long have you been with the WCA?

Just over a month, May 2nd was my first day

Where did you work prior to joining the WCA team?

I have spent the last 5 years working in elder care in assisted living homes. I have worn many hats in this field from care giver, to receptionist, to dining room server, and my personal favorite – activity director.

What do you find most rewarding about your work at the WCA?

I love working for an organization that is making a true difference in the community. That in itself is incredibly rewarding!

How have you changed or grown as a person through your work here?

While it is still pretty soon to tell, I have changed in the sense that I am more aware of sexual assault and domestic violence in my community. Coming here has given me insight to how common these problems are, more so than I ever realized.

Is there a memorable moment or story that you’d like to share that you have experienced at the WCA?

I had an mother and daughter come by to drop off some donations they had collected. The daughter was pretty young, I’m guessing around 10 or so. She was so excited to be helping! She ran to meet me and help push the cart and excitedly told me how all these items were for the children. To see the pure excitement and joy on this young girl’s face to be helping others she didn’t know made me smile and stuck with me. I look forward to many more of these moments as I continue to grow with the WCA.
