12191790_10153099588885588_908563295208191421_nOn October 31st, the first annual Crooked Cross event took place at Crooked Flats in Eagle. Bob’s Bicycles Boise Velowomen is an all-female cycle racing club that started in 2012 that focuses on promoting and developing the sport of competitive cycling for women.  There are 25 women who are in the club. In addition to road racing, mountain bike racing and triathlon, many of the members race in cyclocross events.

This year the board decided to organize a cyclocross race that benefits women in the treasure valley.  One of the WCA’s clinicians is involved with the club and when members discovered the work of the WCA they decided to have us be the beneficiaries of their Crooked Cross event.  The event was sponsored by the club, Bob’s Bicycles, Crooked Fence Brewing, and Crooked Flats. There were 54 racers who came out on Halloween to support the WCA! There was a great costume contest that brought lots of laughs to see what the racers wore. We had such an amazing time and a member of another cyclocross team (Rhino Rush) created this great video about the event. The event also made the news!
