The 11th Annual “Healing Begins with Hope” Fundraising and Outreach breakfast was a resounding success! Held at the Riverside Hotel on May 5, the theme of “Childhood Memories” touched over 300 guests. They heard heartfelt testimonials from a diverse group of speakers who told of their own childhood memories—some happy, but many touched by domestic violence and fear. They spoke about how the WCA had helped them break the cycle so their own children have happy, healthy lives today.

A very special part of the morning was when children from St. Joe’s, Adams Elementary and Riverstone International schools entered the room and handed each guest a special gift: a coaster embossed with a small child’s handprint (from one of the WCA’s clients). The children—as young as 5– were very excited to give everyone a gift, and the guests loved the adorable helpers! The beautiful coasters were donated by In the Bag Promotions, and they made a wonderful memento of the morning.

Another memorable part of the table settings were the hand-decorated table numbers. The children in the WCA child care colored and painted the table numbers, and they ranged from truly creative to the happy scribbling of the very young.

A final surprise was the announcement that an anonymous donor offered to match the donations and pledges of anyone who joined the Hope Society, or extended or increased their existing Hope Society pledge. This was very exciting, and many in the audience took advantage of that generous offer.

It was a great event, thanks to our Ambassador Table Hosts and all the guests who attended at the early hour on Tuesday morning! The WCA is able to provide services to those who need us in large part due to the generosity of community donors. Thank you all so much!
