An important part of our community outreach is our “Tour in a Box,” a 30- to 45-minute presentation that Bea and I take to businesses, clubs, and other groups who want to hear about our mission and work. Last month, for example, we took our presentation to a passionate group of bikers known as RADAR: “Riders Against Domestic Abuse and Rape.” According to their president, Thor Wade, these men and women want to break the stereotype of a motorcycle rider as a “big, scary guy” who hurts people—just as we want to break some stereotypes about abusers. RADAR is planning some fundraisers for the WCA, and Thor himself is interested in becoming an Ambassador! It’s a great partnership with some new supporters. Let me know if you’d like us to bring our “Tour in a Box” to you!
