We are very fortunate to have many friends in the community who choose the WCA to receive funds from events and drives that they plan, promote and complete.  We are often invited to attend a check presentation, which is so much fun and very exciting!  It is always so wonderful to receive funding to continue our programs to support our clients.  But there’s something that’s just as important with these events—outreach!  Every time we learn of an event, if the group requests an information table or a client speaker, that many more people learn about the WCA and become a “lifeline” to others who may need our services, but may not know we’re here.

We have several upcoming events put on by wonderful supporting groups who, besides raising funds, are also including a donation drive, a WCA information table, and/or a client speaker.  On Saturday, September 13, the Harley Owners Group (HOG), sponsored by High Desert Harley-Davidson, is having a motorcycle rally to benefit the WCA. They’re also collecting donations at the store.  Shelley Berns, of the Ladies HOG group, is a WCA Ambassador.

Another motorcycle rally will be held on Saturday, October 11 by R.A.D.A.R (Riders Against Domestic Abuse and Rape).  Besides the ride for motorcycle riders, this all-day event will offer many activities for non-riders as well, including a spaghetti dinner and silent auction.  All of the funds raised during the day will be donated to the WCA. Thor Wade, the founder of R.A.D.A.R., is also a WCA Ambassador.  There will be a WCA information table as well as a client speaker at the event.

If you’d like more information about putting together a fundraiser for the WCA, go to our website.  If you’d like to know more about how you can become an Ambassador, like Shelley and Thor, see the WCA Ambassadors page.  All of these ways to support the work of the WCA are extremely meaningful, and we’d love to have you learn more!
