Staff Spotlight: Echo Knight
Our staff spotlight this month is on Echo Marie Knight, Administrative Support Specialist, who joined the WCA on September 1, 2017.
Echo received her B.S. in Health Education and Promotion at Boise State University. While at BSU, Echo worked with many different local organizations within the Treasure Valley, including Vivid Roots and Idaho Office of Drug Policy. Prior to joining the WCA team, Echo was a nanny for three little girls for almost four years.
Of her job at the WCA, Echo says, “I get the privilege to say hello to everyone who walks in the front at the WCA!” In addition to providing a welcoming presence for WCA clients, Echo works on special projects with every department, meaning that each day is a little different.

Wow! What an incredibly giving community we have here in the Treasure Valley!
This month, we would like to put a spotlight on not a single volunteer, but to ALL volunteers who helped make our Holiday Sponsorship program a success. We are stronger together, and without each and every one of you, it would not have been possible to give 118 families a Christmas this year. A special thank you goes to Joyce L. and Pam J. for putting in a combined 30 hours of volunteering and going above and beyond! This year, we had over 34 volunteers put in a total of 146 volunteer hours. Volunteers helped with receiving gifts from donors, wrapping and labeling gifts, and delivering gifts to clients.
Our community is constantly giving back and supporting our clients on their journey to safety, healing and freedom. We would like to highlight just a few special cases that have happened recently.
Over the past month, many people have expressed to me assumptions that organizations like the WCA receive more calls for help during the holidays. However, year-to-year records tell us that this is not true. And, even on a national level, it would appear that those experiencing domestic abuse are less likely to reach out for help during the holiday season. According to the National Domestic Violence Hotline, calls to the hotline actually drop dramatically on major holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas.
