WCA Scam Alert!

I feel like the BBB – talking about scam alerts.  Unfortunately, there have been several instances that have come to our attention in the past couple of months that have prompted me to make this the subject of this month’s BeaLine. The good news is that we have lots of exciting things going on all over town, the bad news is that because of this increased and positive visibility sometimes our name is used for fund raising purposes that have nothing to do with us. The last straw came when I heard about a woman selling chocolate bars to raise money for us!  She has been holding herself out to be a representative of the WCA and so far has been seen working the car lots and the downtown Saturday market. When confronted by one of our donors, she claimed to have a copy of our 501c3 – which of course proves nothing! So, please check out any fund raiser that claims to be raising money for us on our website, or by contacting Chris, our Communications Manager (343-3688 ext 11).
