burrell-dianaOverwhelming gratitude. Those are the words that have been in the forefront of my mind since our 13th Healing Begins with Hope Breakfast on October 31. The support the WCA received from this event is truly inspiring. Twenty-five new individuals and couples became members of our Hope Society! These passionate community members are multi-year donors who believe whole-heartedly in the work that we do. They also understand that we need sustainable funding that will allow us to serve the increasing needs in our community. Raising nearly $470,000, hundreds of clients will be able to exemplify our mission of safety, healing and freedom from domestic abuse and sexual assault.

I also want to offer my heartfelt gratitude to Tara and Christina. These remarkable women, both former clients of the WCA, bravely shared their stories in a video made for the event. Tara also spoke at the breakfast and Christina has spoken at other events. They shared what it was like to grow up in a home filled with abuse, and they expressed their hopes and dreams for their young daughters. Their daughters are now able to grow up in safe, loving homes free from abuse, and they are able to witness and learn about healthy relationships.

On behalf of all mothers like Tara and Christina and their children helped by the WCA, we thank you. Because of your support, the cycle of abuse stops with them.
