The WCA Needs Your Help During COVID-19

24-Hour Domestic Violence Hotline: 208.343.7025 24-hour Rape Crisis Hotline: 208.345.7273 (RAPE)

COVID ArticleDuring the COVID-19 global health pandemic we have continued to provide care for clients recovering from the trauma of domestic and sexual abuse. Our clients have continued to receive counseling, case management, court advocacy and safe shelter. The rising rates of domestic violence have increased worldwide and Idaho is not exempt from such tragedy. Home is not safe for everyone. We have seen a 94% increase in domestic violence related calls and eleven emergency intakes into our secure shelter since April.

The increase in the number of clients we serve has also seen an increase in the number of essential items needed to help individuals on their path of safety, healing and freedom. During this crisis, we have been incredibly grateful and blessed by the support of our community through our Amazon Wish List.

Donations from our Amazon Wish List are placed in our shelter store, Survivors R Us, where clients can receive needed items for them and their children though vouchers they receive as they complete our programming. Wish List items are essential in helping families stock their new homes with brand new items which gives them a level of financial freedom and security.

Thank you so very much for considering this special request for our shelter clients during this unprecedented time.

“We are so grateful for the donations we receive in order for us to help our clients begin to heal. Clients are fleeing abusive relationships and oftentimes come into shelter with minimal to no possessions. These items help our clients build a new life. “

Shayla D., LMSW – Residential Operations Manager
