Jaeda photoWhat do you do in your volunteer role at the WCA?

My role as a volunteer varies; I typically help with whatever is needed. For example, if someone is needed to clean they can call me. Or if there’s an event going on I am happy to jump in and help with whatever I can. Overall I’m there to help with anything and everything that I can help with.

How long have you been a volunteer?

I have been a volunteer since late August 2015, so I have volunteering at the WCA for about 6 months.

What do you find most rewarding about your service at the WCA?

One of the things that I have found most rewarding is the satisfaction of  making a difference for someone. All of the work I’ve done has helped someone in some way, and that is a wonderful feeling. It makes me want to help more people, because I’m making a difference for that person and I know I can do if for someone else as well. Making someone’s day a little better and brighter is one of the biggest rewards we can have in life.

How have you changed or grown as a person through your service here?

While volunteering at the WCA I have definitely changed as a person. I have become more mature and overall a better person through my volunteering. I’ve had the chance to volunteer with some amazing people and they helped open my eyes. I now have knowledge around the issues of abuse and the different types of abuse. I am very grateful for the people that helped me become a volunteer, which has helped me become a better person. I’m more aware of the world and what goes on in it, and I feel like I have learned so much in such a short amount of time.
